Newcastle Law Fair
17th November 2008 1.00 - 3.30 p.m.
Bamburgh Suite, Level 4, St James' Park

Organised by Newcastle University Careers Service and Law School, the Newcastle Law Fair attracts over 60 law firms, course providers and professional bodies from across the country. Opportunities include vacation placements and training contract vacancies. The event is open to both law and non-law students from all universities.

Biotechnology YES (Young Entrepreneurs Scheme)

There will be a regional heat of the Biotechnology YES (Young Entrepreneurs Scheme) in North East. This is a fantastic opportunity for researchers in Biosciences to gain experience in all aspects of technology transfer and the commercialisation of bioscience ideas. The competition takes place over three days and includes all meals and accommodation all free of charge and there is a £1000 prize for the competition winners. The North East heat will take place from 29th October to 1st November 2008 in Newcastle. Further information is available from their website

Newcastle Enterprise Package Event, Monday, 14 July 2008, 12.30pm – 3pm, at the Pandon Room, Newcastle Civic Centre

Newcastle City Council intend to apply for funding, through Priority 2,  to support a package of activities aimed at improving entrepreneurship levels in disadvantaged areas of Newcastle.   The package will be co-financed with Working Neighbourhoods Fund (WNF) resource. It is intended the package will consist of four themes:

  • Entrepreneurial Young People
  • Animation and Pre-Start Support
  • Start-Up Support and
  • Growing Businesses

CREATIVE GLEAM are offering aspiring creative graduates across the North East a new oportunity to launch and develop their own creative business and to learn how to sustain its success. GLEAM is dedicated to helping fledgling owner/managers build the networks and knowledge they need to survive and thrive. It offers an opportunity to underpin creative talent with guidance in developing entrepreneurial skills and managerial competencies and a chance to interact with and learn the language of business from mentors who have themselves turned their creative skills into successful enterprises.
